Hussain Sajwani hailed from a middle-class family in Dubai. He founded the DAMAC company, the largest company in Dubai, in 2002. The University of Washington is his alma mater where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science in 1981. He was an active member of many boards, for instance, Emirates Takaful Company, Majan University College, etc. Additionally, he has several assets’ investments in both local and international markets under DICO Investments company.
Besides being an entrepreneur, the DAMAC owner, is also playing a prominent philanthropic role. In 2015, his company contributed AED one million to the “UAE Compassion campaign,” to help refugees in Lebanon and Jordan affected by ‘Huda.’ In addition to the stated, he donated a huge amount towards ‘Tarahamu’ campaign to the UAE Red Crescent. The company also supports the president of the United Arabs Emirates in various ways. For instance, DAMAC provided donated one million and two million towards ‘Clothe a child ‘campaign and water aid respectively.
He started his profession as a Contracts manager at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s subsidiary in 1981. In the following year, he ventured in catering to the Draieh Management Services Company. In the 1990s, he launched Twilight Invest company as well as building four hotels in Dubai. Eventually, he founded Damac developer in 2002.
In 2013, Damac was the first company operating real estate business to list on the London stock exchange market raising an IPO of US$379 million. Moreover, the company listed its assets on Dubai Financial Market in 2015. DAMAC Properties include residential properties, DAMAC Maison Privé, located in Dubai among others. On average, the company owns approximately 93 properties. Additionally, the company has leisure and commercial properties in the United Arab Emirates for instance in Qatar, United, etc. Recently, the company’s properties have increased significantly. Indeed, the growth is attributed to the astute founder who possesses entrepreneurial skills.
Before Donald TRUMP was elected as the president of America, he worked closely with Hussain Sajwani (@hussainsajwani) on development and real estate investments such as the Trump International Golf Course. Currently, their relationship is still firmly geared toward entrepreneurship.
