How does it feel like being an immigrant? Does being an immigrant give one a sense of belonging? To some, being an immigrant is a whole new experience that gives them an opportunity of being out of their home country in another country that has more opportunities than theirs.

To some, however, being an immigrant is like being in hell with painful experiences that are marred with discrimination, human trafficking and the violation of their basic human and civil rights. There are some groups and organizations that are dedicated to making sure that immigrants and their families enjoy their most fundamental human rights.

The numerous groups and organizations purpose to front of the endeavor of ensuring that the civil, human and the rights of immigrants are upheld, respected and dignified. One of such groups is Lacy and Larkin Frontera which operates in Arizona and along the Mexican border.

There has been a lot of conflict along the Mexican border as migrants from Mexico strive to cross over into the United States. Many immigrants have ended up dying in the hands of the authorities and their would-be hosts.

Laecy and Larkin Frontera was created to specifically support and advocate for civil human and rights of migrants. The foundation was established after a long struggle for justice. Two journalists, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, had been arrested after they ran a story involving Sherriff Joe Arpaio. The story had unearthed the existence of grand jury proceedings that had sought for contents which exposed Sherriff Joe Arpaio’s abuse of office.

The Amazon Watch is another group which is based in Sans Francisco and operates in the Amazon basin. Following the continued growth of large-scale development projects such as oil as well as gas pipelines, the basic rights of both the migrants and the indigenous people are often violated by the developers. Amazon Watch works with environmental groups and organizations as well as indigenous groups towards ensuring that the rights of the indigenous people are advanced, protected and respected. The organization is dedicated to making sure that the natural resources benefit all those living close by without any discrimination.

The ACLU is another group that champions for the rights of the immigrants. The ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project is dedicated to protecting and upholding the civil, basic and universal human rights of all immigrants.
