Dr. Jim Toner is a fertility expert with over 30 years of experience in the field. Bearing children is a normal thing for most people, but lack of a child can be devastating. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from St Joseph’s College, Philadelphia, Jim Toner attended the University of Pennsylvania enrolling in the Medical Scientist Training Program. He graduated with an M.D. and doctoral degrees in 1985. At Jones Institute, Norfolk, he was accorded the district honor under founder Howard W. Jones, M.D. to pursue his Fellowship and Residency Training.
He was honored with the Resident of the Year Award and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha society in 1989 following his teaching gifts. He joined Jones Institute Faculty where he worked for 15 years, rising to become an Associate Professor. He served as the Institute’s director for Third Party Reproduction Program and Fellowship Program.
Currently, Jim Toner, MD, Ph.D serves as a fertility doctor in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM) since 2000. He has made remarkable research contributions in fertility publishing 20 chapters, 80 articles, and more than 100 abstracts on the topic in reproductive health. His notable works are on the evaluation of the ovarian reserve and how it affects fertility.
His investigation in Assisted Reproduction cycles focuses on the role played by progesterone in luteal support, and he has also looked at the gonadotropins differences in ovarian stimulation. These research efforts led to Dr. Jim Toner being awarded the AFS/Ortho Fellowship, American Fertility Society Ortho Award, the Berlex Foundation Faculty Development Award, and the Ciba-Geigy Award by American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. On two occasion at the national reproduction meeting, Dr. Jim Toner has been awarded the First Prize Paper.
He previously served as the president of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). Dr. Jim Toner is a lively member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and a national speaker who has given over 200 meetings presentations locally and nationally. He is the Chairman of both the Registry Committee and the Informed Consents Committee. He is a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity.
At his workplace, Dr. Jim Toner specialty is in repeated miscarriages and treatment of infertility. As a psychologist, he takes care of his patient’s emotional concerns forging a warm and personalized approach for each patient with infertility related issues. His Third Party Reproduction Program success has continued at ACRM.
